Sweden's sales hiring index: B2B salesperson job ads, month by month
From January to September 2026, 13,434 job ads for B2B salespeople were published on Platsbanken, Sweden's public job board, 19.2 percent fewer than in the same period of 2025. The share of sales jobs among all job ads fell from 5.8 percent in 2024 to 3.2 percent in 2026, the lowest level since the series starts in 2020. Ads for sales and marketing managers fell by 11.2 percent.

Fewer reps, same targets.
When fewer companies hire salespeople, the ones that sell have to get more out of the team they already have. For anyone selling to sales teams that means two things: the companies that do hire stand out more than before, and the ones that don't are looking for other ways to build pipeline.

How we count.
We count every Platsbanken ad that the Swedish Public Employment Service classified in the occupation group Företagssäljare (B2B salespeople), by month of publication, from JobTech's historical ads (licensed CC0). The share is that count divided by all ads in the same period. 2019 has no occupation classification in the data and is left out. The number of ads also depends on which sources Platsbanken includes, so the share is the most reliable measure over time. Latest full month: 2026-09. The index updates monthly.
