AI GTM and go-to-market

What is AI GTM? Go-to-market with an AI agent explained

2026-09-08 · 7 min read · Adam Axelsson, founder of Revexa

AI GTM (AI go-to-market) means an AI agent runs your go-to-market from the first buying signal to the booked meeting. The agent picks which companies to contact, reaches out to the right decision-maker in your voice, handles the replies, books the meeting and learns from what turned into deals. Classic sales automation runs the sequences you already built. AI GTM also makes the decisions before and after: who, why, when, and what happens with the reply.

Thursday afternoon at a twelve-person B2B company. The founder has three tabs open: a contact database, an email tool and a spreadsheet of companies that looked interesting in January. Nothing has gone out in two weeks, because nobody has had time to update the list. Meanwhile one of the companies in the sheet hired a new head of sales, and a competitor reached out that same week.

That is not laziness. It is what happens when go-to-market is a pile of tools instead of someone doing the job. Contact data decays at 22.5% per year according to Apollo, so the list loses value every week it sits untouched. And the toolbox nobody has time to use becomes a monthly cost with no sends.

One disclosure before we continue: Revexa builds Leo, an AI GTM agent. Read with that in mind. What we say about other tools comes from their own sites.

AI GTM in one sentence

Go-to-market is how you reach and win customers: which companies, which channel, which message, which follow-up. AI GTM is when an AI agent runs that motion, rather than assisting in it.

Three things separate AI GTM from "AI in sales":

  • The agent picks the companies. On fresh buying signals, against an ideal customer profile, not from a static list.
  • The agent acts in the channels. Writes, sends, follows up and replies on LinkedIn and email.
  • The agent learns from the outcome. Which signals and sources produced meetings decides next week's priorities.

If any of the three is missing, it is sales automation with an AI layer on top. Useful, but not the same thing.

AI GTM vs sales automation, AI SDR and GTM engineering

Four terms that get mixed up in every evaluation. Here is the difference.

TermWhat it isWho does the workWhat you get
Sales automationSequences and triggers in an email or CRM toolYou build, the tool sendsVolume sends
GTM engineeringGo-to-market built as technology: data flows, enrichment, listsA GTM engineer, every weekFlexible flows, as long as someone maintains them
AI SDRAn AI that handles an SDR's tasks: research, first contact, follow-upThe agent, within outboundBooked meetings from outbound
AI GTMAn AI agent that runs the whole motion: finds, reaches out, books, learnsThe agent, you approveA go-to-market that gets sharper every week

Sales automation is the oldest layer and ships with most CRMs. GTM engineering is Clay's world: a workshop where a technical operator builds custom flows (full guide here). AI SDR is the category term many vendors use for the agent that writes and follows up.

AI GTM is wider than all three. What is often called an AI SDR is one part of the job: the contact. AI GTM adds the decision layer before (which companies, on which signal) and the learning after (what produced meetings). Leo is built as an AI GTM agent, not as a sending tool with better copy.

What is included: find, reach out, book, learn

This is what the work looks like when Leo runs your go-to-market.

  1. Finds buy-ready companies. Leo reads your website and builds the ideal customer profile with a buyer thesis: which business model buys from you, and why. Then he watches buying signals around the clock: hiring, funding, system changes, LinkedIn engagement. Leo filters out the right title at the wrong company.
  2. Reaches out in your voice. Research on the company and the person, one message on exactly that signal, in the lead's language, on LinkedIn and email. Never a template with a first name.
  3. Books the meeting. Leo handles the replies, follows up until something happens and books into your calendar. Before the meeting you get a Lead Brief: the signal, the person, what to bring up.
  4. Learns from the outcome. Every source is measured against booked meetings. What works gets more room, your edits become his new standard.

Who AI GTM is for, and who it is not for

AI GTM gives the most to teams that have nobody to put on go-to-market as a full-time job:

  • Small B2B teams without RevOps or a GTM engineer
  • Founders who sell themselves and want the meetings, not a build project
  • Teams already paying for three tools and still not sending

It is not the right choice everywhere. If you have a GTM engineer who wants to build custom data flows beyond outbound, Clay is the right category. If you buy through procurement and annual contracts, sales-led agents like 11x and Artisan exist. The whole field is mapped in AI GTM tools compared 2026.

Control and GDPR

Review mode is the default. Leo writes, you approve every message until you have seen enough good drafts. Then you switch on autonomous mode per channel, when you trust it. You always see the buying signal behind every contact.

Outbound B2B contact rests on legitimate interest (art. 6.1f). A data processing agreement is included in the product, opt-outs are always respected, and your data is stored in the EU with some processing by sub-processors in the US under SCCs. The legal basis is explained in the GDPR guide for B2B email.

How to start with AI GTM

Three steps, no flows to build:

  1. Enter your website. Leo builds the ideal customer profile himself.
  2. Connect LinkedIn and email.
  3. Start Leo. The first buy-ready companies and drafts sit ready for review.

7 days free, then $99 or €89 per month excluding VAT, no commitment. The buying signals at your dream customers fire every week whether or not you act on them. The company that reaches out first gets the meeting. Start Leo for free.

Common questions

Is AI GTM the same as an AI SDR?

No. AI SDR is usually the name for the agent that writes and follows up. AI GTM covers the whole motion: the choice of companies on buying signals, the contact, the booking and the learning from outcomes. An AI GTM agent does what an AI SDR does, plus the steps before and after.

Do we need Clay or Apollo if we have an AI GTM agent?

Not to get meetings from outbound. Leo finds the companies and the data himself. Larger teams sometimes keep Clay for data work into the CRM, and that works well side by side.

Is AI GTM allowed under GDPR?

Yes, when done right. Outbound B2B contact can rest on legitimate interest, with a clear sender, a relevant message and respected opt-outs. Leo is built that way, with a data processing agreement and data storage in the EU.

How much time does AI GTM take from us?

The review. At first you read and approve every draft, which takes minutes per day. Once you trust Leo you switch on autonomous mode per channel and spend the time on the meetings instead.
