Salesforce Agentforce Hunter in 2026: worth it for small teams?
2026-10-15 · 8 min read · Adam Axelsson, founder of Revexa
Salesforce Agentforce Hunter is worth a look if your team already sells in Salesforce, has CRM history for it to learn from, and can wait for general availability, which Salesforce lists for November 2026. If you are a small team that is not on Salesforce, needs outreach running now, or wants a fixed public price before you commit, a standalone AI outreach agent is the more practical choice today.
Checked against Salesforce's own pages on 15 October 2026. Revexa builds Leo, an AI agent in the same market, so read with that in mind.
What Salesforce Agentforce Hunter is
Salesforce introduced Hunter as its outbound sales agent on 11 September 2026, one of seven "job-ready" agents. The launch story sums it up: "Hunter, your outbound sales agent, works a sales pipeline from research to outreach, collaborating with sellers over weeks and months."
Hunter is "the first agent to run on the long-horizon runtime": you give it a goal, such as rescuing at-risk deals before quarter end, and it plans and works toward it across sessions. The Hunter product page lists "researching and prioritizing prospects, drafting and sending outreach, progressing opportunities in Salesforce, preparing proposals, and supporting pipeline reviews and forecasts."
For teams already in Salesforce, the advantages are real:
- It learns from your own wins. Hunter "studies the patterns behind your strongest opportunities across CRM history", along with conversations, enablement content and seller activity.
- Native CRM context. Its memory sits on accounts, contacts and opportunities.
- Enterprise governance. "Every agent operates within the customer's business rules, permissions, and security", and every action is logged.
- Data without extra contracts. Third-party data comes through Salesforce's Data Vendor Gateway, "without managing separate integrations or vendor contracts."
Salesforce also reports that "60% of Perk's sales pipeline is built by its outbound sales agent, Hunter", a vendor figure rather than an independent study.
What it requires
Salesforce has not published which editions or licences Hunter requires. Its pages say:
- Salesforce as your CRM. The product is "Hunter by Sales Cloud", and the job-ready agents are "Connected to Customer 360".
- Agentforce Coworker. Hunter "ships in Coworker", and "teams already on Agentforce for Sales can start using Hunter's sales skills right away" (Sales Cloud release page).
- A connected mailbox. Hunter "will request access to your email account so that it can send emails on your behalf" (Salesforce walkthrough).
- History to learn from. It learns how your team sells "based on historical data in the CRM" (Sales Cloud Dreamforce recap). Salesforce has not published how it performs with little CRM history.
On Starter Suite or Pro Suite? The Sales Cloud pricing page says "AI can be added to Core and above", so ask what Hunter would need.
What it costs
Salesforce has not published a price for Hunter, and none of its Hunter, Agentforce or Sales Cloud pages showed one on 15 October 2026. What is public is general pricing, not Hunter's:
- Flex Credits: $500 per 100,000 credits, and a standard Agentforce action uses 20 credits (Agentforce pricing).
- Agentforce add-ons for Sales, Service and Field Service: $125 per user per month.
- Agentforce Max editions: from $550 per user per month, including the add-on and 2.75 million Flex Credits per org per year.
- Sales Cloud: Starter Suite $25, Pro Suite $100 and Core $195 per user per month, the last two billed annually (Sales Cloud pricing).
Salesforce has not said which of these applies to Hunter, so do not add them up. Two details matter for any budget: the usage examples on the Agentforce pricing page exclude "Data 360 credits or other consumption services", and "Unused Flex Credits do not roll over into subsequent subscription terms." Compare with AI SDR pricing.
When it is ready
- Status: the launch story still read "Pilot now; GA November '26" on 15 October 2026, and Salesforce's Dreamforce roundup of 28 September repeats "Hunter GA November."
- Regions and languages: Salesforce has not published which ones Hunter supports at GA.
- Two agents called Hunter: on 3 June 2026 Salesforce announced that "Prospecting Agent Hunter is generally available now", an agent that "identifies prospects based on buyer intent, initiates outreach, and runs email nurture sequences." The September agent is the one in pilot, so ask which Hunter you are offered.
Hunter vs a standalone AI outreach tool for a small team
| Criterion | Salesforce Agentforce Hunter | Standalone AI outreach agents (e.g. 11x, Artisan, AiSDR, Leo by Revexa) |
|---|---|---|
| CRM required | Salesforce, connected to Customer 360 | Usually not tied to one CRM |
| Setup | Ships in Agentforce Coworker; Salesforce says "No weeks of configuration" | Self-serve or sales-led, depending on the tool |
| Data sources | CRM history, conversations and seller activity, plus third-party data via Salesforce | The vendor's own lead data and signal sources |
| Approval, human in the loop | Configurable; customer-facing actions "can require rep approval" | Varies; many offer approval before sending |
| Price transparency | No public Hunter price | Varies; some publish prices, others quote |
| Availability today | Pilot; GA listed for November 2026 | Generally available |
| Languages | Not published by Salesforce | Varies by tool |
| Best for | Salesforce teams with CRM history who can wait for GA | Small teams not on Salesforce, or teams that need outreach now |

Questions to ask before you pilot it
- Data access: Which objects, mailboxes and Slack channels will Hunter read, and who approves that?
- Approval rules: Can every customer-facing message require approval at first, and who can change that later?
- Sending infrastructure: Which mailbox and domain does it send from, at what daily volume, and who owns deliverability?
- Cost model: Is it priced per user, through Flex Credits or inside an edition? What do Data 360 and third-party data add?
- Your CRM data: What does Hunter write to your records, and how do you review or undo it?
- Languages and regions: Which are covered at GA, and where is your data processed?
- Exit: What happens to Hunter's plans and records if the pilot ends, and what does the contract commit you to?
Who should wait, who should pilot, who should look elsewhere
Pilot it if you run Sales Cloud with Agentforce for Sales, have a solid history of won deals and someone to set permissions and approval rules, and outbound is a priority.
Wait for GA if you are on Salesforce but need a written price or confirmed languages for your markets before you commit.
Look elsewhere if you are not on Salesforce, need outreach running this month, or have little CRM history for Hunter to learn from. Buying a CRM to get an agent turns a sales experiment into a migration project.
Salesforce does pitch Hunter to smaller firms, as "a new kind of digital teammate for growing businesses" (small-business blog). What decides is less your headcount than whether your sales data already lives in Salesforce.
Another option
If you are not on Salesforce and want outreach done for you on buying signals with approval before anything is sent, agents such as Leo by Revexa ($99/month in the US, €89 in Europe, 999 SEK in Sweden, 7 days free) take a different approach: Leo starts from your website instead of your CRM history. More in what is a buying-signal agent and on the pricing page.
Frequently asked questions
Is Salesforce Hunter available now?
Not generally. On 15 October 2026 Salesforce listed the long-running outbound agent as "Pilot now; GA November '26". A "Prospecting Agent Hunter" was announced as generally available in June 2026, so ask Salesforce what you would get today.
How much does Salesforce Hunter cost?
Salesforce has not published a Hunter price. General Agentforce pricing is public, such as Flex Credits at $500 per 100,000 credits, but only a quote from Salesforce gives you a Hunter price.
Do I need Salesforce to use Hunter?
Yes. It is sold as "Hunter by Sales Cloud", works "right inside Salesforce" and follows the permissions and approval settings you configure there. Salesforce has not published which editions are required.
Does Hunter send messages without approval?
That depends on your settings. Salesforce says actions that reach a customer "can require rep approval before they execute, and every action is logged", and its guardrails "define when it can act autonomously and when seller approval is required."
Is Hunter an AI SDR?
Partly. Salesforce says "Hunter can perform many tasks associated with an AI SDR or BDR, including prospect research, prioritization, and outreach", and that its role goes beyond generating meetings.
