Best AI SDR for startups and small SaaS teams (2026)
2026-10-15 · updated 2026-10-15 · 11 min read · Adam Axelsson, founder of Revexa
For a startup, the best AI SDR is one you can pay for month to month, set up without a GTM engineer and trust with your name. Under $100 a month, Apollo, lemlist, Instantly's AI Sales Agent, Gojiberry and Leo by Revexa have monthly plans, and AiSDR charges $1.50 per person prospected with no monthly fee. Between $100 and $500, Valley, Clay, Artisan, Salesforge's Agent Frank and Reply.io's Jason AI add channels, data or languages, though Agent Frank and Jason AI stay within that range only when billed annually. Over $500, Amplemarket ($600 a month) and 11x ($3,750 a month) are sold on annual terms.
Checked against each vendor's own pages on 15 October 2026.
Revexa builds Leo, one of the 13 tools below. Tools are grouped into three tiers by the lowest published monthly price of the entry plan (per seat where priced per seat), whatever the billing term. Within a tier they run from the lowest price to the highest, ties are alphabetical, and $500 counts in the middle tier. Prices are in US dollars and exclude VAT.
What a startup should check before signing
Feature lists rarely sink a startup; contracts, setup and founder hours do. Check six things:
- Commitment. 11x's docs say "quarter one is the first real read" (11x docs), so a year's contract runs three quarters past the first verdict. Stay monthly until your market replies.
- Minimums. Apollo's Organization plan is annual with a 3-seat minimum, Valley's Scale plan starts at five seats, and AiSDR's team plans need quarterly contracts.
- Who runs it. Clay is for people "building and automating prospecting workflows", and 11x requires "One named owner" (11x docs).
- Setup time. From "3 minutes to set up" (Gojiberry) to two weeks of mailbox warm-up (Salesforge).
- Inputs. Some agents start from your website alone; 11x asks for a defined ICP, reliable CRM ownership data, positioning material and DNS access.
- Control. Approval before sending is on by default in some tools and missing in others (approval, tool by tool).

Under $100 a month
AiSDR. On 15 October 2026 the pricing page listed pay as you go at "$1.50 per person prospected", with research and writing included; the $250 Solo plan that older lists cite no longer appears (pricing). It covers email plus LinkedIn requests, messages and InMail. Best for: testing outbound with no fixed fee. Wrong choice if: you want to approve each message, because "No manual approval is needed for each outgoing message" (help).
Apollo. A contact database with sequences, AI research and AI writing. The free plan is "Good for founders and early-stage teams", and agents are "available on professional and organization plans" (pricing, agents). Early-stage startups can apply for "50% off for 1 year" (Apollo for Startups). Best for: founders who build their own lists and sequences. Wrong choice if: nobody has those hours every week.
lemlist. The Email plan includes unlimited users and the lemAgent assistant; LinkedIn, calls and SMS need Multichannel at $109 per user a month, or $87 billed yearly (pricing). Imported leads "wait in the Launch section until you manually review and launch them" (help), and lemlist says its data is stored in the EEA on servers in France (GDPR article). Best for: European teams running their own email and LinkedIn sequences. Wrong choice if: you need LinkedIn on the entry plan.
Instantly (AI Sales Agent). The Starter bundle is "Built for small teams just getting off the ground" and includes the AI Sales Agent, which "finds perfect leads, crafts personalized messages, follows up, and books meetings" (pricing, agent). Manual approval is the default setting, and the agent sends 10 emails a day until you raise the limit (help). At 5 credits per lead, the bundle's 1,500 credits cover about 300 leads a month (our calculation). Best for: email-first founders. Wrong choice if: your buyers answer on LinkedIn; the agent's help article covers email only.
Gojiberry. Enter your website and Gojiberry finds warm leads from signals and lookalikes, then contacts them on LinkedIn and email; Pro includes 2 agents and "Up to 1,800 prospects contacted/month", with a free trial (Gojiberry). In Review Mode you approve each lead and message, and "Once a lead is approved it goes automatically through the campaign steps" (help). Best for: founders whose buyers are active on LinkedIn. Wrong choice if: you need approval on by default; Gojiberry states no default.
Leo by Revexa (ours). A buying-signal agent. It builds your ideal customer profile from your website, watches signals such as hiring, funding, new executives and engagement with competitors' LinkedIn posts, judges each company's business model, finds the right person and drafts LinkedIn messages and emails in your voice, in the lead's own language when your website has that language and otherwise in English. It handles replies and books meetings with a Lead Brief. You approve, edit or skip every draft in the portal, in iMessage or in Slack, and can switch on autonomy per channel (facts). Best for: founders who want signal-based outreach drafted for them and a person approving every message. Wrong choice if: you need phone, SMS or WhatsApp, a database to export, messages in a language your own website doesn't use, cold outreach to leads in Germany (Leo blocks it) or published customer results (Revexa has none yet).
$100 to $500 a month
Valley. LinkedIn-first: Starter covers LinkedIn only, Plus adds 1,000 emails a month at $299, or $249 billed quarterly (pricing). You start by telling Valley "what you sell, who you sell to and how you write", and it writes in 39 languages (languages). With automatic sending off, every message waits in Approvals, and approving a sequence also approves its follow-ups (approvals). Best for: sellers whose buyers live on LinkedIn. Wrong choice if: you need email on the entry plan.
Clay. A data and workflow builder rather than an agent, with a free plan and its own email sequencer (pricing). You preview messages against real leads before launch, and after launch it sends (docs). Best for: a technical founder or a GTM engineer. Wrong choice if: nobody will build and maintain the workflows.
Artisan. Its agent Ava "books meetings for your reps autonomously". Intern buys about 500 leads a month, the free plan covers lead search and enrichment, and the 30-day trial gives 10K credits without a card (pricing). Control is "Autonomous by default, adjustable by design", and sequence steps are email, manual task and human call (docs). Best for: email outbound with lead data included and a dialer for your own calls. Wrong choice if: you need LinkedIn steps or approval on by default.
Salesforge (Agent Frank). Agent Frank "covers everything from finding prospects, crafting emails and following up, right up to booking meetings", for 1,000 active contacts (Agent Frank). Setup takes "a few hours (at most!)" plus two weeks of email warm-up, it writes in 20+ languages, and in Co-Pilot "he will ask for your review before sending messages". Best for: startups targeting 3,000 or more businesses, the fit Salesforge itself describes. Wrong choice if: you want a monthly plan or a trial.
Reply.io (Jason AI). AI SDR Starter, "Perfect for small teams getting started", includes 1,000 active contacts, 2 LinkedIn accounts and unlimited users, and you hire Jason AI through a demo call (pricing file). In Approval mode "Messages won't be sent until you approve them", but with "First steps only" the follow-ups send automatically (help). Best for: teams that want email and LinkedIn from one agent with unlimited users. Wrong choice if: you want to start without a sales call or below $500.
Over $500 a month
Amplemarket (Duo). Startup includes 2 users and 27,000 contacts, and Amplemarket calls it "Perfect for small businesses, startups, & founder-led sales teams" (pricing). Duo surfaces leads from buying signals and drafts multichannel sequences that reps review, edit and send: "Human in the loop by design" (Duo). Best for: a founder plus a seller ready to commit for a year. Wrong choice if: you cannot commit $7,200 a year before seeing results (our calculation, $600 × 12).
11x (Alice). Growth covers up to 5 users and 2,000 new prospects a month, yet the FAQ on the same page says "11x starts at $36,000 per year", which does not match $3,750 × 12. "Annual is the default", and outreach in 105+ languages starts at Pro (pricing). The docs say "Week one is tuning, quarter one is the first real read", although the pricing FAQ promises "no ramp time". Best for: funded teams with a named owner and clean CRM data. Wrong choice if: your ICP is still undefined, which the docs list as a poor fit (who it's for); see 11x alternatives.
If you sell into Europe
US lists skip this. This is not legal advice.
- GDPR. B2B outreach in the EU usually rests on legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f), and recital 47 says direct marketing "may be regarded as carried out for a legitimate interest". Recipients can object at any time (Article 21), and a vendor processing personal data for you needs a contract under Article 28, so ask for the data processing agreement (GDPR).
- Germany. UWG §7(2) no. 2 treats advertising by electronic mail without the addressee's prior express consent as an unacceptable nuisance, with no exception for companies (UWG §7, our guide). Check how a tool handles German leads before you import any.
Common questions
What is the best AI SDR for a small B2B SaaS startup?
Usually one with a monthly plan under $100 that finds leads and drafts messages for you, such as Gojiberry or Instantly's AI Sales Agent, or AiSDR at $1.50 per person prospected. Apollo and lemlist cost less if you build lists and sequences yourself. Avoid annual contracts until your market has replied.
Which AI sales agent finds leads and books meetings automatically?
By their own descriptions, Artisan's Ava, Instantly's AI Sales Agent and Salesforge's Agent Frank all find leads, write, follow up and book meetings. Most let you approve messages first; AiSDR has no approval per message.
What is the best AI GTM agent for founders?
It depends on who does the work. Without a GTM engineer, pick an agent that starts from your website or a ready play and drafts the outreach, such as Gojiberry, Leo by Revexa or Valley. With a GTM engineer, Clay. With an annual budget and a named owner, Amplemarket or 11x.
Do AI SDR tools require annual contracts?
Not all. Apollo, Artisan, Clay, Gojiberry, Instantly, lemlist and Valley are among the tools with monthly plans, AiSDR is pay as you go, and Reply.io's Jason AI costs $800 a month on monthly billing. Salesforge's Agent Frank needs at least a quarter, and Amplemarket and 11x are annual.
Can I approve every message before it is sent?
Yes, but defaults differ. Approval is on by default in Instantly's AI Sales Agent and Leo, per lead in lemlist and Amplemarket Duo, and optional in Artisan, Gojiberry, Reply.io, Salesforge, Valley and 11x. AiSDR and Clay have no approval per message.
