lemlist vs Instantly 2026: which is better for cold email?

2026-10-16 · updated 2026-10-16 · 9 min read · Adam Axelsson, founder of Revexa

Instantly is the cheaper start for one sender: Growth costs $47 a month ($37.60 billed yearly) for 5,000 emails and 1,000 contacts at a time, with unlimited mailboxes and warmup, but leads cost extra on a separate Credits plan and team invites start at $97. lemlist suits teams and multichannel outreach: its Email plan costs $69 a month ($55 yearly) for 50,000 emails with unlimited users, Multichannel adds LinkedIn steps and calls for $109 per user ($87 yearly), and lemlist says it stores data on servers in France. Neither refunds a month or year already paid.

Checked on 16 October 2026 against each vendor's own pages. Prices are US dollar list prices excluding tax, and "yearly" prices are per month, billed yearly.

Revexa builds Leo, a buying-signal agent in the same market, so read with that in mind. This comparison is about the two tools in the title.

What a working setup costs

Every plan and add-on is in lemlist pricing and Instantly pricing, and 30 tools are compared in our pricing research. Our estimates at list price, monthly billing first and yearly billing in brackets:

SetupInstantlylemlist
One sender, own list, 5,000 emails a month, own mailboxesGrowth $47 ($37.60)Email $69 ($55)
Add 8 Google mailboxes bought in the tool+$40, plus $5 a month for 4 domains+$80, plus domains
Add about 1,000 verified emails a month+$47 Growth Credits ($37.60)+$49 for 5,000 credits ($39)
Three people on one plan, email onlyHypergrowth $97 ($77.60), the first plan with team invitesEmail $69 ($55), unlimited users
Three people, email plus LinkedInNo LinkedIn steps in the sending plansMultichannel $327 ($261), 1,200 credits included

A founder who buys mailboxes and data in the tool pays about $139 a month on Instantly ($120.20 billed yearly) and about $198 plus domains on lemlist ($174), mostly because lemlist's Google mailboxes cost from $10 against Instantly's $5. We assume 30 emails per mailbox a day, as Instantly advises, 22 sending days and two mailboxes per domain; lemlist's help center gives no domain price.

Two limits change the math. Instantly's 1,000 contacts on Growth are "a fixed total in your Outbound plan, not a monthly allowance", so adding new contacts means deleting old ones or upgrading; lemlist lists unlimited contacts. And Instantly's credits expire 2 months after purchase on monthly plans, while lemlist's "roll over for as long as your subscription remains active".

Deliverability: what each vendor publishes

  • Warmup. lemlist says lemwarm and its deliverability protections "are included in all plans"; Instantly says its warmup runs on "a private deliverability network of 4.2M+ accounts". lemlist's pricing and deliverability pages give no network size.
  • Sending pace. Instantly recommends 30 campaign emails per mailbox a day. lemlist says to start a warmed mailbox at 10 to 15 a day, add 5 a week and cap it at 25 to 30.
  • Placement tests. lemlist lists deliverability testing on every plan. Instantly sells Inbox Placement as an add-on: $47 a month for one-time tests, $97 with automated tests.
  • Read both vendors' comparison pages with care. lemlist's page, updated July 2026, says Instantly bundles "start at $94/mo", but the Bundles tab on Instantly's pricing page was hidden when we checked on 16 October 2026. Instantly's post, updated 31 October 2025, still prices lemlist "from $59/mo per seat".
  • Independent tests. We found none, and the ranking tests disagree: Cotera's 90-day test (March 2026, 1,800 leads per tool) put lemlist slightly ahead on inbox placement, while Something Inc, an SEO and outbound agency, cites a 14-day test that put Instantly ahead and does not name who ran it. Cotera sells AI agents, including one for Instantly campaigns.
  • The mailbox providers' rules apply to both. Google asks senders to keep spam rates in Postmaster Tools below 0.10% and never reach 0.30%.

LinkedIn: the real difference

lemlist's Multichannel plan automates LinkedIn profile visits, invites, messages, voice messages and InMail in the same sequence as email, through its Chrome extension, and recommends "up to 20 invites/day". Instantly's sending plans list no LinkedIn steps. Section 8.2 of LinkedIn's User Agreement bans "bots or other unauthorized automated methods" to add contacts or send messages, and LinkedIn says members using such tools "risk having their accounts restricted or shut down", whichever tool acts on the account; see LinkedIn outreach without restrictions.

When to pick lemlist

  • You want email and LinkedIn in one sequence. Multichannel costs $109 per user a month, or $87 billed yearly, with 400 credits per user a month.
  • A team shares one email plan. The Email plan includes unlimited users and senders for $69 a month; 100,000 emails a month cost $89 ($71 yearly).
  • You want EU-hosted data. lemlist says its data sits on OVH servers in France; check the US sub-processors in its DPA.

When to pick Instantly

  • You are one sender and want the lowest price: $47 a month, or $37.60 billed yearly, with unlimited mailboxes and warmup.
  • You want ready-made mailboxes: Google accounts from $5 a month, or $10 pre-warmed, and domains at $15 a year.
  • You want leads and AI replies in the same app. SuperSearch covers 450M+ contacts on Credits, and the AI Reply Agent uses 5 credits per reply.

When neither fits

  • You run an agency with many clients. Instantly needs one subscription per workspace; Smartlead sells client workspaces for $29 a month each from its Pro plan.
  • You lack the moment, not the engine. An agent such as Leo by Revexa watches buying signals such as hiring and funding, writes LinkedIn and email messages in your voice, and by default you approve each draft before it is sent; $99 a month in the US, €89 in Europe, 999 SEK in Sweden, excluding VAT, 7 days free. Wrong choice if you want to bulk-send cold email to a list you already have or need a database to export. More options in Apollo vs Instantly vs lemlist.

GDPR and where the data is

  • lemlist. Its help center, updated 12 May 2026, says "All lemlist data is stored within the European Economic Area (EEA) on servers located exclusively in France and hosted by OVH". Its DPA (v1.4.2) also lists US sub-processors with Standard Contractual Clauses, among them Intercom for support and optional AI providers such as OpenAI.
  • Instantly. Its privacy policy, updated 22 September 2026, says "We generally store the Information used in our Services in the United States", with transfers under the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Its DPA names Foo Monk LLC as your processor.
  • Your sending. You choose who gets emailed, so you are the controller and need your own lawful basis, usually legitimate interest under GDPR art. 6.1 f; in Germany, UWG §7 requires prior consent for advertising email. This is not legal advice.

Common questions

Is lemlist or Instantly better for cold email?

Instantly for one sender who wants the lowest price and many mailboxes; lemlist for teams, for email plus LinkedIn in one sequence and for data hosted in France. We found no independent test showing that either lands more email in the inbox.

Which is cheaper, lemlist or Instantly?

Instantly for one sender: $47 a month ($37.60 yearly) against $69 ($55) for lemlist's Email plan. For a team, lemlist's Email plan includes unlimited users, while Instantly's team invites start on Hypergrowth at $97 a month.

LinkedIn's User Agreement bans unauthorized automated methods, so any such tool carries account risk.
