Unify vs Clay 2026: pricing, signals and which one to pick
2026-10-15 · 8 min read · Adam Axelsson, founder of Revexa
Pick Unify if you are a seller or a small sales team that wants data, signals, AI-written sequences, email and calling in one per-seat tool, from $20 or $60 per seat a month, knowing that signal-triggered plays, website intent and two-way CRM sync are only on its custom Business plan. Pick Clay if someone on your team, such as RevOps or a GTM engineer, will build custom enrichment and signal workflows across 150+ data providers; CRM sync, web intent and webhook signals start on Growth at $495 a month. Neither tool tells you which person visited your website: both identify the company.

Revexa builds Leo, an AI agent in the same market, so read with that in mind. This comparison is about the tools in the title.
What each tool is
Unify relaunched on 24 June 2026 as a chat-first tool it calls "Claude for outbound sellers": from one prompt it builds lists, enriches them, researches fit and writes sequences (Unify blog). It includes a database it describes as "1.1B+ people & 65M+ companies", sequences that mix email, calls and social steps, and a click-to-call dialer. Base costs $20 and Pro $60 per seat per month, billed monthly, with 800 and 2,400 credits per seat. Business is custom and billed annually (Unify pricing).
Clay is a workspace for building enrichment and signal workflows. It runs waterfalls across 150+ data providers, lets its Claygent agent research the web for each row, and pushes results to CRMs, ad platforms and sequencers (Clay pricing, Claygent). Since 1 September 2026 it also sends cold email through Clay Sequencer (Clay blog). Every plan has unlimited seats: Launch costs $185 a month ($167 billed annually) with 2,500 data credits and 15,000 actions, and Growth $495 ($446 annually) with 6,000 data credits and 40,000 actions (Clay pricing). More tools in this space are in Clay alternatives.

Where Unify is better
- Lower entry price for a seller with a CRM. Unify Pro costs $60 per seat a month and includes read-only HubSpot and Salesforce sync. Clay's CRM sync starts on Growth at $495 a month (Unify pricing, Clay pricing).
- More channels in one sequence. Unify mixes email, calls and social steps and includes click-to-call on every plan. Clay's own docs call its Sequencer "a cold email product today", with no dialer or manual rep tasks (Unify sequencing, Clay Sequencer FAQ).
- Less building. One chat prompt in Unify builds the list, enriches it and writes the sequence. In Clay the same work is built as tables, functions and agents (Unify blog, Clay pricing).
- Predictable spend. When Unify credits run out, credit-using actions pause instead of charging more. Clay sells top-ups at a 30% premium (Unify pricing, Clay pricing).
Where Clay is better
- Breadth of data. Clay waterfalls across 150+ data providers and charges nothing when an enrichment finds no result. Unify lists 40+ data sources (Clay pricing, Unify pricing).
- Custom signals and research. Claygent researches the web for each row, and from Growth any signal can be piped in by webhook (Claygent, Clay pricing).
- Cost does not grow with headcount. Every Clay plan has unlimited users, while Unify charges per seat below Business (Clay pricing).
- Wider integrations. Clay connects to Salesforce, HubSpot, Dynamics 365 and Pipedrive, to warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery and Databricks, and to sequencers such as Outreach, Salesloft, Instantly, Smartlead and lemlist (Clay integrations).
Limitations and criticisms
Clay
- Learning curve and credit burn. Trustpilot showed 2.9 out of 5 from 27 reviews on 15 October 2026, 59% of them one-star. Complaints cover credits used faster than expected, a tool that is hard to learn, and support and cancellation. Positive reviews also mention the "steep learning curve" (Trustpilot).
- The March 2026 repricing. Clay's own announcement says some customers, especially those using their own API keys or on the old Pro plan, may pay more (Clay blog, 11 March 2026).
- Documented limits. Launch has no CRM integration, HTTP API or web intent. Sequencer locks a campaign's steps once launched, and Clay Search is still "in open beta" (Clay pricing, Clay Sequencer blog, Clay Search doc).
Unify
- Key features sit on the custom plan. Website intent, product-usage signals, automated plays, managed mailboxes, warmup, the Power Dialer, two-way CRM sync, the API and webhooks are all Business-only. Every plan caps a search at 100 records (Unify pricing).
- A young product in its current form. The chat-first product and self-serve plans arrived on 24 June 2026 after a private beta of "a few weeks". Review data is limited: Trustpilot lists a single review (Trustpilot).
Both
- No person-level website identification. Unify Reveal "identifies companies behind anonymous website traffic" and links a visit to a person only after a form or sign-in. Clay's web intent identifies accounts, then you enrich for people (Unify docs, Clay web intent doc).
What changed in 2025 and 2026
- 15 July 2025: Unify raised a $40M Series B led by Battery Ventures (SiliconANGLE).
- 5 August 2025: Clay confirmed a $100M round at a $3.1B valuation, led by CapitalG (TechCrunch).
- 11 March 2026: Clay replaced Starter, Explorer and Pro with Free, Launch, Growth and Enterprise, counting data credits and actions separately (Clay blog).
- 2 April to 26 May 2026: Unify added PostHog product signals, one-off LinkedIn, call and email tasks, an API and webhooks in Plays (Unify changelog).
- 23 June 2026: Clay launched Audiences, which removes the 50,000-row table limit (Clay blog).
- 24 June 2026: Unify relaunched as a chat-first tool with self-serve plans from $20 (Unify blog).
- 1 September 2026: Clay Sequencer became generally available on Launch, Growth and Enterprise (Clay blog).
- 9 September 2026: Clay raised a $115M Series D at a $7.1B valuation and reported 17,000+ customers (Clay blog).
Which one should you choose?
- One to three sellers who want to prospect, write and call in one place: Unify Base or Pro.
- Four or more sellers: do the maths. Four Pro seats ($240) cost more than Clay Launch ($185), but Launch has no CRM sync, and Clay Growth ($495) costs about the same as eight Pro seats ($480).
- Outreach that starts by itself when a signal fires: Unify Business (custom, annual). On Clay, job-change and news signals work from Launch and web intent from Growth, but someone has to build the workflow.
- RevOps or a GTM engineer who needs enriched data in the CRM or ad platforms: Clay Growth.
- You mainly want to know who is on your website: neither names the person behind an anonymous visit.
For the wider category, see AI GTM tools compared.
Another option
If you want the outreach done for you on buying signals with approval before anything is sent, agents such as Leo by Revexa ($99/month in the US, €89 in Europe, 999 SEK in Sweden, 7 days free) take a different approach. Plans are on the pricing page.
Frequently asked questions
Is Unify cheaper than Clay?
For one to three sellers, yes: Unify Base is $20 and Pro $60 per seat a month, while Clay Launch costs $185 a month for the whole workspace. Four Pro seats cost more than Launch, but Launch has no CRM sync.
Can Clay send cold email now?
Yes. Clay Sequencer has been generally available since 1 September 2026. It is email-only, buying inboxes inside Clay requires Growth, and Clay still works with outside sequencers.
Do Unify or Clay tell me which person visited my website?
Not for anonymous visitors. Both identify the company behind a visit, Unify only on Business and Clay from Growth.
Which plan do I need to trigger outreach from a buying signal?
On Unify, signal-triggered plays need Business, which is custom and billed annually. On Clay, job-change and news signals start on Launch, while web intent, webhook signals and CRM sync need Growth.
Does Unify send LinkedIn messages automatically?
Unify's pages describe "social outreach" and manual LinkedIn tasks. They do not say LinkedIn messages are sent automatically, so that is not public.
