Hunter.io pricing 2026: plans, credits and the real cost
2026-10-20 · updated 2026-10-20 · 8 min read · Adam Axelsson, founder of Revexa
Hunter.io has a free plan with 50 credits a month and three paid plans: Starter at $34 a month billed yearly ($408 a year) or $49 monthly, Growth at $104 or $149, and Scale at $209 or $299, each with unlimited users; customers in the EU pay the same figures in euros. A credit finds one email or verifies two, so yearly Starter works out at 1.7 cents per email found if you use every credit (our estimate). Monthly credits don't roll over, add-ons such as extra mailboxes are billed separately, and fees aren't refunded.
Checked on 20 October 2026 against Hunter's pricing page (seen from the US and Sweden), help center and terms. Prices exclude tax. This page is about Hunter.io, the email finder, not Salesforce's sales agent of the same name. Revexa builds Leo, one of the alternatives below.

Source: hunter.io/pricing, checked on 20 October 2026. A US visitor sees dollars; from Sweden the same figures are shown in euros (€34, €104 and €209 yearly; €49, €149 and €299 monthly). Hunter bills in USD by default, EUR in EU countries and GBP in the UK (payments). Yearly billing saves 30%. Data Platform prices, shown in dollars from Sweden too, fall with volume: 10,000 searches cost $209 and 100,000 cost $950.
What a credit buys
| Action | All-in-one plans | Data Platform |
|---|---|---|
| Email found (Email Finder, Domain Search) | 1 credit | 1 search credit; Domain Search returns up to 10 emails per credit |
| Bulk Domain Search | 1 credit per 1 to 10 emails | 1 search credit per up to 10 emails |
| Email verified | 0.5 credit | 1 verification credit |
| Enrichment through the API | 0.2 credit | 1 search credit |
| Discover company search, sending sequences | Free | Discover in the API only; no sequences |
No credit is used when Hunter can't find or verify an email, and repeat searches in the same billing period count once, except bulk uploads (credits).
What Hunter really costs: three examples
Our estimates, at list price before tax.
A founder. Free covers 50 emails a month. Yearly Starter costs $408 and gives 24,000 credits upfront: 1.7 cents per email found, or 2.6 cents if you also verify each one. Month to month it costs $588 a year, and credits left at the end of each month are lost.
A team of three. Users are unlimited at no extra cost, so three people can share one plan: Growth costs $1,248 a year billed yearly for 120,000 credits and 10 mailboxes. Three Apollo Basic seats would cost $1,764 a year, though they include phone numbers and a dialer.
A developer who only needs the API. A Data Platform plan with 10,000 searches and 1,000 verifications costs $220 for 12 months; 100,000 searches cost $950. Yearly Starter is cheaper per credit ($408 for 24,000) and includes the API too, but Data Platform domain searches return up to 10 emails per credit.
Hidden costs and terms
- Monthly credits expire. "Credits reset monthly and don't roll over." Yearly credits arrive upfront and "expire at the end of the 12-month period" (rollover).
- Yearly means 12 months. Switching from yearly to monthly "isn't possible during your yearly term", and a cancelled yearly plan runs to its end with "no refund for the unused portion".
- No refunds. The terms, updated 23 May 2024, say "Upgrade fees are non-refundable" and that Hunter "does not provide refunds to users who request cancellation of Services, regardless of the reason for the request".
- Renewal at the current price. Plans renew automatically at "the then-applicable annual or monthly subscription fee", Hunter can change fees "upon thirty (30) days prior written notice", and reminders "are only sent for annual renewals".
- Short-lived top-ups. Credit packs start at 100 credits for $10 on Starter (1,000 for $70), are "valid for 3 months" and "non-refundable once purchased"; auto-purchase can top up at zero within a monthly cap you set.
- Add-ons bill separately. Extra mailboxes cost from $10 a month each and Inbox Protection from $7.50 a month per mailbox ($6 yearly); add-ons "have their own renewal cycles and are not automatically cancelled when you cancel your main plan".
- Tax. Hunter "is registered in the United States and doesn't charge VAT, GST, or sales tax by default", but collects US sales tax where states require it.
- Emails only. The plans list email finding, verification and sending, no phone numbers.
Third-party price data
- Vendr. Vendr shows a median of $18,364 a year, from $2,488 to $31,608, without a purchase count or date. That is about seven yearly Scale plans at list price (our calculation), so it reflects Enterprise or high-volume contracts.
- Trustpilot. On 16 October 2026 Trustpilot showed 4.2 from 347 reviews, 294 five-star and 32 one-star. Of the 20 newest, from 2 July to 9 October 2026, 3 were one-star; one says a $6 per-account warm-up fee is "not mentioned directly in their pricing page", whose comparison table lists per-mailbox add-ons from $6.
Cheaper alternatives
Ordered by starting price: the lowest monthly US dollar price for the cheapest paid plan as shown to a US visitor, whatever the billing term. Free plans don't count; ties are alphabetical. Hunter is cheap to start, so each tool is cheaper for one job. Prices checked on 20 October 2026.
- Unify. $20 per seat a month, billed monthly, with 800 credits per seat; email enrichment "averages 1 credit per record" and phone enrichment 4 (pricing). Right if one rep wants emails and phone numbers for less than Starter's $49 monthly; wrong if several people share, since Hunter adds users free and Unify charges per seat.
- Snov.io. Starter costs $29.25 a month billed annually or $39 monthly, with 1,000 credits, 5,000 recipients and unlimited seats and sender accounts (pricing). Right if you send from many mailboxes; wrong if you verify a lot, since each verification costs a full credit against half in Hunter.
- Smartlead. Base costs $32.50 a month billed yearly or $39 monthly, with 6,000 sends a month and unlimited mailboxes; verified emails are a $59 add-on (pricing, our breakdown). Right if you already have contacts and need cheap sending; wrong if you need to find emails too.
- RocketReach. Essentials costs $33 a month billed annually in the US ($399 a year) or $69 monthly ($19 or $39 as shown in Sweden), with unlimited lookups on annual plans but 1,200 exports a year (pricing). Right if you look up emails one at a time inside RocketReach; wrong if you download or sync more than 100 contacts a month.
- Leo by Revexa (ours). $99 a month in the US, €89 in Europe and 999 SEK in Sweden, excluding VAT, with 7 days free and no lock-in (pricing). Right if you want an agent that watches buying signals, finds the right person and drafts LinkedIn messages and emails you approve; wrong if you need an email finder, a verifier or contact data to export.

Hunter in Europe: GDPR and where the data is
- Location. "Hunter servers are located in Belgium" (privacy policy, updated 13 April 2026), on "Google Cloud Platform (GCP) in Belgium" (security policy). Hunter Web Services, Inc. has its registered address in Delaware, and transfers outside the EEA use Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Legal basis. Hunter processes profile data on its "legitimate interest in providing comprehensive professional contact databases for business-to-business purposes", backed by a Legitimate Interest Assessment and a DPIA, it says.
- Sources. Hunter crawls public web pages, follows robots.txt and may generate a likely address "using pattern analysis", labelling which is which; people can remove their data at hunter.io/claim. Its EU representative is in Ireland.
- Your own outreach. Emailing EU prospects needs your own lawful basis, usually legitimate interest under GDPR art. 6.1 f, and Germany's UWG §7 requires prior consent for advertising email. See our GDPR guide. This is not legal advice.

Common questions
Is Hunter.io free?
Yes. The Free plan includes 50 credits a month, enough to find 50 emails or verify 100, with one connected mailbox and unlimited team members. Hunter offers no free trial of the paid plans.
How much does Hunter.io cost per month?
Starter costs $49 billed monthly or $34 a month billed yearly, Growth $149 or $104, and Scale $299 or $209, excluding tax. Customers in the EU pay the same figures in euros.
How are Hunter credits counted?
One credit per email found and half a credit per verification, and nothing when Hunter finds or verifies nothing. Bulk Domain Search uses one credit for up to 10 emails, and sending sequences uses no credits.
Can I get a refund from Hunter?
No. The terms say Hunter "does not provide refunds to users who request cancellation of Services, regardless of the reason for the request". Cancelling stops the next renewal, and the plan runs to the end of the period you paid for.
